Simple particle filtration may not keep the microbes out but it can help if you experience dirt when you turn on the tap. Microfiltration not only keeps the dirt particles out but also the microbes. The filter has a smaller mesh separating cysts, bacteria, and other large pathogens. If you live in an area that suffers from high concentrations then you might want to use ultra-filtration.
